When You Know What Needs to Change, But Still Feel Stuck
You may have tried therapy, medication, self help strategies, lifestyle changes, or a combination of approaches. You may understand what is contributing to your difficulties and genuinely want things to improve.
Yet despite your efforts, you may still find yourself struggling with low mood, anxiety, emotional overwhelm, burnout, brain fog, low motivation, or difficulty following through on the changes you want to make.
Sometimes lasting change requires support not only at the emotional and behavioural level, but also at the level of the brain itself.
ExoMind™ is a non-invasive, drug free treatment that supports the brain systems involved in mood, emotional regulation, focus, motivation, and cognitive functioning, helping create the conditions for meaningful and lasting change.
What is ExoMind™?
ExoMind™ is an advanced form of gentle Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS), a brain based treatment that uses gentle magnetic pulses to stimulate specific areas of the brain involved in emotional wellbeing and cognitive performance.
Treatment sessions are approximately 24 minutes long. No anesthesia or sedation is required, and most people return immediately to their normal daily activities afterward.
Many individuals describe the sensation as a gentle tapping on the scalp during treatment.
ExoMind and Clinical TMS: What Is the Difference?
ExoMind™ uses Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation, or TMS, technology. TMS is the broader brain stimulation technology, while ExoMind™ is a specific TMS based system that can be used with different treatment protocols and goals.
It is important to understand that ExoMind™ and clinical TMS are not necessarily the same service, even though both use TMS technology.
Clinical TMS is a medical treatment typically provided within psychiatric or specialized medical settings for diagnosed mental health conditions. Depending on the specific TMS system and regulatory authorization, clinical TMS may be used to treat conditions such as Major Depressive Disorder and Obsessive Compulsive Disorder.
At PsychSolutions, ExoMind™ is offered within a different framework. Our approach focuses on brain wellness and supporting areas such as emotional regulation, focus, mental clarity, cognitive functioning, stress management, and burnout recovery in appropriate individuals.
This distinction is important. ExoMind™ is not intended to replace psychotherapy, psychiatric care, medication, or medical treatment when these are clinically indicated. It is also not intended to be used as a stand alone treatment for severe or acute mental health concerns.
At PsychSolutions, we take a clinically grounded and individualized approach. Before treatment, we consider your symptoms, goals, current supports, and overall mental health picture to determine whether ExoMind™ is appropriate and how it may fit within your care.
If you have a diagnosed mental health condition or are experiencing significant or worsening symptoms, our team can help you explore the treatment options that may be most appropriate for your needs. When appropriate, ExoMind™ may be considered as one component of a broader treatment plan alongside psychological care and other supports.
An Important Distinction
If you are experiencing depression, anxiety, OCD, or another diagnosed mental health condition, ExoMind should not be viewed as a replacement for appropriate psychological, psychiatric, or medical care.
At PsychSolutions, we can assess your individual needs and help determine whether ExoMind may have a role within a broader treatment plan, or whether another treatment approach would be more appropriate.
Who May Consider ExoMind?
ExoMind™ may be worth exploring if you are functioning well in your daily life but feel that your brain is not working the way you want it to.
Functioning well does not always mean well regulated.
Many successful, driven individuals live with ongoing stress, poor sleep, depleted motivation, and a nervous system that is constantly working to keep up. From the outside, they may appear capable, productive, and composed. Internally, however, they may feel mentally exhausted, overwhelmed, or like they are running on empty.
You may notice:
Emotional overwhelm or difficulty regulating emotions
Burnout, chronic stress, or mental exhaustion
Brain fog or reduced mental clarity
Difficulty concentrating or maintaining focus
Low motivation or difficulty following through
Cognitive fatigue
Difficulty managing competing demands
Challenges with planning, organization, working memory, or cognitive flexibility
A sense of feeling mentally stuck, even when you understand what you want to change
Many people who explore ExoMind™ are not looking for another medication or another strategy to add to an already full plate. They are looking for another way to support the brain systems involved in focus, emotional regulation, motivation, and cognitive functioning.
The goal is not simply to function better. It is to create greater capacity for thinking clearly, managing stress, regulating emotions, and engaging more fully in the changes you want to make.
What If I Have a Mental Health Diagnosis?
If you are experiencing depression, anxiety, OCD, or another diagnosed mental health condition, ExoMind™ should not be viewed as a replacement for appropriate psychological, psychiatric, or medical care.
At PsychSolutions, we can assess your individual needs and help determine what type and level of care may be most appropriate. When clinically appropriate, ExoMind™ may be incorporated into a broader treatment plan alongside psychological care and other supports.
If you are experiencing severe, rapidly worsening, or acute mental health symptoms, psychiatric or medical assessment may be more appropriate than a standalone ExoMind™ wellness program.
How Does ExoMind™ Work?
By supporting neuroplasticity, the brain’s ability to adapt and strengthen neural connections, ExoMind™ may support brain systems involved in:
Emotional regulation
Decision making
Attention and concentration
Working memory
Planning and organization
Cognitive flexibility
Inhibitory control
Goal directed behaviour
By supporting these brain systems, ExoMind™ may also complement the development and maintenance of meaningful behavioural change.
ExoMind™ and Therapy Work Well Together
ExoMind™ is not intended to replace therapy.
Therapy helps you understand and process your experiences, challenge unhelpful patterns, develop coping strategies, strengthen relationships, and create meaningful changes in your life.
ExoMind™ takes a different approach by using gentle magnetic stimulation to support brain systems involved in emotional regulation, attention, motivation, and cognitive functioning.
For some individuals, combining ExoMind™ with therapy may provide complementary support. As you work through emotional and behavioural changes in therapy, ExoMind™ may help support the brain systems involved in attention, emotional regulation, and cognitive functioning.
At PsychSolutions, we look at the whole person and consider how ExoMind™ may fit alongside the psychological care and other supports that are already part of your life.
Our Collaborative Care Approach
At PsychSolutions, we believe the best outcomes occur when care is coordinated and individualized.
If you are already working with a therapist, you do not need to transfer your care to our clinic.
With your written consent, we can communicate with your therapist before, during, and after treatment to share relevant information regarding your goals, progress, and treatment outcomes. This collaborative approach helps ensure continuity of care and supports the integration of ExoMind™ treatment into your ongoing therapeutic work.
Similarly, if you are taking medication or receiving care from other healthcare providers, we often work collaboratively with your treatment team to support a coordinated approach.
Why Choose PsychSolutions for ExoMind™ in Edmonton

Our team brings together decades of combined clinical experience, supported by over 20 years of clinical leadership that helps ensure care is thoughtful, consistent, and individualized.
What sets our approach apart is the way we integrate brain based treatment with ongoing psychological care. Our collaborative approach extends beyond our own clinic. Is ExoMind™ Safe?
ExoMind™ is based on TMS technology that has been studied for decades and is generally well tolerated when appropriate safety screening and treatment protocols are followed.
Temporary side effects may include headache, mild scalp discomfort, or fatigue.
Before treatment begins, a thorough screening process is completed to determine whether ExoMind™ is appropriate for you. Screening considers relevant medical history, medications, neurological history, seizure risk, implanted medical devices, and other factors that may affect treatment suitability.
If another type of medical, psychiatric, or psychological care would be more appropriate, we will discuss this with you before treatment begins.
What Does the Research Show?
Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation, or TMS, has been studied for more than three decades and has an established research base supporting its use in several mental health conditions. TMS is used clinically in a number of settings, with specific applications depending on the device, treatment protocol, and regulatory authorization.
It is important to distinguish between established clinical applications of TMS and emerging research involving ExoMind™. While TMS has decades of research behind it, research specifically examining ExoMind™ and its protocols is newer and continues to develop.
Research on ExoMind™
Early research involving ExoTMS, the technology used by ExoMind™, has explored areas including mental well being, stress, sleep, motivation, and other aspects of psychological functioning.
A 2026 review published in Frontiers in Psychiatry examined eight clinical studies involving 182 participants who received active ExoTMS treatment. Across the studies, participants generally received four to six treatment sessions, with follow up assessments conducted one to three months later. The studies reported improvements across several patient reported outcomes, including well being, mood, perceived stress, and mental energy. Treatment was also generally well tolerated, with 93.3% of participants describing treatment as comfortable with minimal to no pain. No serious adverse events were reported in the studies included in the review.
A 2026 sham controlled study published in Sleep Science and Practice examined six ExoTMS sessions in 43 adults experiencing sleep difficulties. Participants receiving active treatment showed significant improvements in subjective sleep quality at three months, and participants who initially took longer to fall asleep experienced a reduction in sleep onset time. The study also reported that the treatment was well tolerated. Because this study included a sham group, it provides a stronger level of evidence than an uncontrolled study. However, the researchers noted that the study was a pilot study with a relatively small sample, and larger studies are needed to confirm the findings.
Other preliminary ExoTMS research has explored areas such as psychological well being, stress, food cravings, and behavioural health. These studies provide interesting early findings, but many have relatively small sample sizes and different study designs. Further independent, controlled research will help clarify which individuals are most likely to benefit, which protocols are most effective, and how long improvements may last.
What Does This Mean for You?
Research involving ExoMind™ is encouraging, but it is still developing. We do not present ExoMind™ as a guaranteed solution or suggest that the results of one study will apply to every individual.
At PsychSolutions, we use the available research alongside clinical assessment and professional judgment. Before treatment, we consider your symptoms, goals, current supports, medical and mental health history, and whether ExoMind™ is an appropriate option for you.
Our goal is not simply to offer a new technology. It is to understand where brain based treatment may fit within a broader approach to mental health, brain health, and overall wellbeing.
As research continues to develop, we will continue to review new evidence and update our approach accordingly.
When ExoMind™ May Not Be the Right Starting Point
ExoMind™ is not appropriate for everyone.
If you are experiencing an acute mental health crisis, severe or rapidly worsening symptoms, significant safety concerns, or a condition requiring psychiatric or medical management, a different level of care may be more appropriate.
A thorough screening process is completed before treatment to determine whether ExoMind™ is appropriate and whether additional psychological, medical, or psychiatric support is recommended.
