Colin Simpson – Who are Ya Anyway?

Colin Simpson was born and raised in a small rural Alberta town. At thirteen he was bullied and he struggled with his identity as a gay teen. He became suicidal, but was too ashamed to reach out for help.

Colin got into drugs and alcohol at an early age and was a teenage alcoholic by high school. He stumbled through numerous attempts at post-secondary schooling and many low income jobs.

Colin has experienced three psychotic episodes so far and was diagnosed with bipolar disorder in 1996. He sees his psychiatrist regularly, takes medications and has modified his behaviors to embrace recovery and wellness.

Colin believes in the restorative power of work and accessing appropriate community supports. He currently supports others as Mental Health professional.
